Deep Things of Satan?
This is a verse that was written to the fourth church mentioned in Revelation 2, Thyatira. Again, it has to do with the deception in the church brought about by leaders who do good works on one hand, but with the other they believe in lies. Recently I was at a conference where the leaders were identifying issues in the church and named some leaders who were doing things that were not Biblical. I was shocked because these were national leaders who write outstanding books, speak all over the country in the name of the Lord, and yet dabble into areas that are prohibited by the scriptures. My question has always been, how can you know God, be lead by the Holy Spirit, follow His Word and be so deceived? As we are discovering, these seven churches were all in the faith, but Jesus saw the deception not only knocking at the door of the church, it was in the church. So it is with the church today. Don't be naive about people saying they are Christians, but their beliefs are strange according to the word of God. Theology is important when it comes to deception. Many people think you don't need to know much about theology, all you need to do is believe in Jesus, and all will be okay. Well, these seven churches were placed in scripture for a reason, and one of those reasons is to show us that faith in Jesus and the practice of our faith can be two different things. Mormons today are trying to test the waters in this country to say they are believers too, except, their concept of Jesus is different than the Jesus of the scriptures. In fact, the Jesus that is preached in many churches today is a western Jesus, a made up Jesus who appears in the scriptures as a universal God whose ethnicity is not important. The scriptures are clearly Jewish, written by Jewish prophets and Jesus who came as a Jew is still is a Jew today. The story of Abraham is the link to both Old and New Testaments, because what we read following the promises to Abraham in Genesis 12 is the fulfillment of those promises, including a Messiah, and a Savior. You can not change who Jesus is, and the battle today is about the testing of the character of God and His faithfulness in keeping the promises He made to Israel? This is the backside of the struggle going on in the Middle East today. When Iran or the Palestinians who all want to eliminate Israel, they are basically saying, "if we eliminate Israel, then we discredit the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, and Allah remains superior. It is like the story of Elijah and the prophets of Baal.
| 21And Elijah came near to all the people and said, “How long will you go limping between two different opinions? If the LORD is God, follow him; but if Baal, then follow him.” |
The battle for the land of Israel is about a war between Satan and God for the hearts of people. The deep things of Satan is to discredit God, by discrediting the people who believe in Him. The question at hand, "can God be trusted?" If Israel is defeated, than so is God, because He failed to keep His promises.
The same is true with you. If you trust in God, you become a target for the enemy to discredit. He will try everything to get you off track and deceived. Stay in the Word, stay in fellowship with other believers, and stay in prayer for yourself and for your community of believers.
Keeping it honest and truthful....K
