I have always been fascinated by the parable Jesus told of the wheat and the tares. Both look alike, and at first glance you wouldn't know the difference between the wheat and the weed. That's why deception is here to stay, it will grow right next to you until the day of the final harvest, when the angels will be able to pick out the false wheat and bring it to be burned. From Matthew 13 Jesus told a story about deception that will be with us until the day God judges the earth.
|24He put another parable before them, saying, “The kingdom of heaven may be compared to a man who sowed good seed in his field, 25but while his men were sleeping, his enemy came and sowed weeds among the wheat and went away. 26So when the plants came up and bore grain, then the weeds appeared also. 27And the servants of the master of the house came and said to him, ‘Master, did you not sow good seed in your field? How then does it have weeds?’ 28He said to them, ‘An enemy has done this.’ So the servants said to him, ‘Then do you want us to go and gather them?’ 29But he said, No, lest in gathering the weeds you root up the wheat along with them. 30Let both grow together until the harvest, and at harvest time I will tell the reapers, Gather the weeds first and bind them in bundles to be burned, but gather the wheat into my barn.’”
The key to this parable is when he suggests that deception be left alone until the day God sends His angels to bind up the false weeds for judgment. Deception grows out of the same soil as does the good wheat, and if you unroot the weeds, you might be pulling up the good wheat as well, so leave both to grow side by side until that day God sends His angels.
So you might not get rid of deception, but you can protect yourself against it, by knowing what is real. Too many times we allow deception to crowd into our spiritual lives by ignorance, and it takes over the whole field in the church. One ounce of truth, for every pound of deception, that is the formula that seems to be at play today. I have said before that you can not trust the last days, because the last days will be full of deception. Even people you have trusted in the past will disappoint you, not that they are out to deceive anyone, but they themselves get caught up in things that are not true to God's Word.
Remember side by side, truth and deception grow together, and the only way you will know the difference is to be careful to watch for the fruits that are produced by either the wheat or the weed. Wheat will produce a product this is good for all, where weeds are selfish and take over everything without delivering a positive thing.
There are lots of weeds in the church today......be aware, don't get seduced by what is growing next to you.
Keeping it honest and truthful....K
