Without Grace, You Can't Be Honest
I have watched repeatedly where people on both sides of an issue implode with hypocrisy. Once you start going down the road of being critical of someone, you find out that you have your own demons of incongruities that surface to remind you of your own humanity. A recent example was that of a well known radio commentator who berated anyone who accepted a belief that was more charismatic in nature, calling them false prophets. Yet he is completely blind to his own narcissistic tendencies of greed and power. You can not be an honest person without majoring in God's Grace. We all know just about the time we go on a tirade on someone's character or motives, we end up getting entangled with our own short comings. I think God has a unique way of allowing us to see ourselves as the, selfish, self centered, ego driven, maniacs that we are. Now it doesn't mean we can't discern issues about people, their character or their motives, because we have to be aware of the wolves among us, but we always have to temper insights on these matters with grace. We are much better commentators on life when we realize that the same grace that covers our inconsistencies and shortcomings, is the same grace that covers those I like to criticize. Grace makes us all honest, because we realize without grace we've all sick people in need of help. Peter, the biggest hypocrate in scripture wrote this from 2 Peter 3:
| 18But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen. |
These are great words for those of us trying to be the disciples Jesus raised up for this hour and day. I want to be a person known for speaking truth with grace.
Let's always season our words and actions with grace.
Keeping it honest and truthful.....in grace....K
