The Last Book
I love the last book of the Bible, because it is rich in prophecy, and it reveals a side of God the modern church often forgets. Many Christians won't read this book because they say it is too confusing, but to ignore reading this book in my opinion is a tragedy. Look at this verse found in the first chapter.
Revelation of John 1:33 Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear, and who keep what is written in it, for the time is near. The blessings of reading and believing that is found in this book is worth the time spent to review it. Here are a couple of lessons I have learned as I read through this book. 1. THe Book of Judgment: Some would say that the God of the Old Testament went away following the cross. Now we know God's character is eternal, and He is not like humans who do need to learn and grow, He's already knows all things. His character of judgment found in the Old Testament is the same judgment found in the Book of Revelation. This book balances out our understanding of God, He is both grace and judgment, and the Book of Revelation proves it. 2. The Future of this World: Some say this Book has been fulfilled, or at least most of it. Now, people who say that are inserting their own theological underpinnings into the picture. This book tells us 1/3 of the earth, animals will all be detroyed. It tells us that 144,000 Jews will evangelize the world, and Satan will be bound for 1000 years. Jesus will be the judge on the Great White Throne judgement, so how could this book be fulfilled, when none of these things have happened? The Book of Revelation gives us a picture of God's judgement upon the people who refused to accept the offer of the cross. It is the cross that redistributes the wrath of God upon His Son hanging on the cross, so we who believe would ever have to face God's judgment. 3. God is in control. The great assurance of this Book is that the Lamb of God, Jesus, is the only one worthy in heaven to take on the assignment of judging the world. The same Lamb of God who died on the cross will be the same Lamb of God who will oversee the judgment coming upon the earth. This is where the disconnect for many Christians lie. God is so fair with His dealing with us, that He first sent a Savior to take us back into His fellowship. It is then and only then once that Savior is rejected, does He send us a judge, the same one who offered salvation, will be the one who will sentence those who rejected the Savior to an eternity in hell. I do hope you will take some time to read this wonderful book of insight. There is nothing to fear from this book, because if you know Jesus as your Savior, you will never know Him as your judge. That is the wonder of the cross. All of your sins were judged there upon the cross where the Savior buried them once and for all in His death. For this reason, we shout out praise to our Savior and Lord Jesus Christ. Keeping it honest and truthful.....K
