The Greater Idea

For those of us who have a conviction about the spiritual nature of human beings, believe in dual citizenship. That means we are a part of a larger idea, that goes on for an eternity. However, before we get to that overarching idea of heaven, we have to deal with a bit of hell. Now hell is a bigger idea too, and its not a place where you want to end up. Both heaven and hell are higger ideas, and they are greater because they last longer, eternity is something most of us can't comprehend.  For the most part most us are here and now people, we could care less about the future. The now generation has been around awhile, but now they are having children.  Those children were the one reason many former church attenders went back to church, it was for their kids. Helping kids understand the bigger ideas about life was important to parents.  Enrollment numbers in Sunday school have slowly been declining over the past two decades or more, and many churches have no formal program known as Sunday school. Teaching the next generation about the duel citizenship will only come from the church. No one understands the bigger idea like the church, because the one we call Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ, came to make this bigger idea a reality for everyone person on earth.  The bigger idea starts with the premise that this world is not our home, and there will come a day when at the end of our lives we will begin to long to graduate into this bigger idea. There is nothing greater than having hope in a bigger, better idea, and people who want to challenge my faith story are motivated by another force.  Think about it, everyone from gays, to Muslims, can all have a story that is accepted by our culture.  They are tolerated, celebrated, and left alone, but not Christians. If you have a faith story in Jesus, you are intolerant, narrow minded, and bigoted. This to me is a pure indication that there is more at stake than just a cultural war.  I believe Christians are targeted because our bigger idea has a foundation of eternal truth to it, and our enemy, the Devil needs to discredit it wherever he can.  Any logically thinking person should ask the question, "why are Chriistian picked on and not Muslims or Jews?" Why is our culture so anti-christian in the media, entertainment, and in politics?  Chrisitanity is not seen in country as a positive trait, and works against a candidiate running for office.

Does any of this matter?  Not really. No one wil out smart or remove God's bigger idea, He is here to stay for eternity.  We are the ones who have to decide whose side we will be on, and what we want to promote.  For me, I like the bigger idea of a life after death, where I can live with God forever.  You tell me what in life can compare with that?

Keeping it honest and truthful....K
