No Fear of Who?.

My wife says we shouldn’t fear the boogeyman, but she scares easily.  There is a lot of fear in our world, some of it is really irrational, (like the boogeyman) but sometimes fear can motivate us.  There is a healthy fear of God, a fear that boarders more on reverence than fear, but like fear it motivates us to honor Him.  My healthy fear of God reminds me that God has the power to judge people for an eternity in hell. Not a pleasant thought, in fact just the thought of hell either makes you appreciate Him or hate Him.  Many people today, including some Christians, start deconstructing God by taking away what makes us fear Him, His character to judge us.  I believe this is one of the reasons why God is presented only as love in most of our churches today.  We don’t want to give anyone a reason to feel uncomfortable, and especially about God. Yet, without a healthy fear of God we lose the ability to know Him.

Psalm 36

1Transgression speaks to the wicked
deep in his heart;
there is no fear of God
before his eyes.

Hosea 4:6

6My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge;
because you have rejected knowledge,
I reject you from being a priest to me.
And since you have forgotten the law of your God,
I also will forget your children.

Fearing God brings us into a state of humility that identifies that there is more to living  than “its all about me.”  Some people try to eliminate God by ignoring Him, or claiming He doesn’t exist.  That way, there is no accountability to how we live our lives.  I heard one Bishop say that hell was an invention of the church, and was intentionally created to control people by fear.  What a lie, and when that Bishop faces eternity he will realize how wrong he had been, but just think of the destruction of all those people who believed in his teachings. (I  linked a you tube clip of this Bishop talking about this issue at the end of this blog)

Today my purpose isn’t to elevate fear, my purpose is to get you to think about the what the Bible says is the beginning of all knowledge, which is to bring God into focus in your life.  Don’t leave Him out there as an unknown God, bring Him closer and you will discover how personal, and wonder He really is.  When you take a closer look at Jesus, you discover what God is really concerned about, and His character has not changed since Christ was on earth.

God wants you to know Him, and to fear Him in a way that is not like a tormenting fear, but a liberating reverence to the Lord of Lords, and King of Kings.

As we enter into the Christmas season, lets honor and respect a God who cared so much that you would be spared from an eternity of judgment, that He sent His only Son to come and rescue you by His death upon the cross.  From a stable animal feeder to a cross, Jesus is worthy of our honor and respect.  Don’t miss the opportunity to bring God closer into your life by accepting a free gift of salvation….

Keeping it honest and truthful....K

Here is a great clip on yout tube that illustrates how people who have no fear of God can invent their own religion and call it Christianity.
