Keeping Things Honest and Truthful
The heading to today's blog has been our tag line since this blogs inception earlier this year, and as I reflect on the various themes I have covered, I hope that this has been fulfilled. Opinions are a dime a dozen, and everyone has one, but what's important is God's opinion. People in general are getting more secular, and less religious. Overall, there is more paganism, humanism, and deception than ever before in the history of the world. It's partially due to the ability to communicate and transfer information across the internet. Daniel tells us that the last days will be days of travel and increased knowledge, and that is exactly what we are experiencing. From Daniel 12 we read:
| 4 But you, Daniel, shut up the words and seal the book, until the time of the end. Many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall increase.” |
The busyness of our times, and the availability of information at our finger tips certainly makes Daniels point a reality, that we are in the last days.
There are so many signs that indicate that our world is about to change, and that change will be devastating to those who have not prepared. I have been warning for months, that believers need to think about the days we live in, and how does the Bible motivate us to take heed? Are we so consumed with this world that we are missing the opportunity to lay up treasure in the world to come? Did you know that nothing you acquire here in this world will be of any value in the world to come? No degree, no bank account, no fame, no recognition, nothing will transfer on your behalf once you leave this world. That is a sobering thought isn't it? Just think of all the time you have spent in developing your life here on earth just to get ahead. I am not suggesting we all take vows of poverty, that's not my point. My point is, that what we do to succeed in life is to be used for a greater purpose and cause than just getting ahead. What you do with your resources of time and money will be the basis for how you lay up treasure in the world to come. Jesus was right, things in this world are subject to change, and treasure stored up here are subject to deterioration and robbery.
| 9 “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, 20 but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. |
Think about your life as a resource for His Story. How are you telling His story through what you do, and who you are? What changes can you make to prepare yourself to be a resource for His Story, and how can you get rid of things that compete for your time and resources that are counter to being a resource for Him?
It's a great challenge in our day, but if keeping it honest and truthful is important to you, you must consider the significance of the treasure you lay up in the world to come.
Keeping it honest and truthful....K
