Woe to Those Who!

Woe to those who call evil good
and good evil,
who put darkness for light
and light for darkness,
who put bitter for sweet
and sweet for bitter!

Isaiah 5:20

This verse comes to mind quite often these days, because I see this happening everywhere.  What we once thought was taboo, is now acceptable, and we are losing ground in our sensitivity to what is right or wrong. One young girl told me how the F-word was so common in her high school that it is used even by the teachers. This of course is common for the world, but even Christians are using a derivative of the f-word where they insert fickin' as a common word in their language.  Now is this a bad thing? Well, it's a slippery slide, and the question is, "why copy that with is bad?"  I am not a puritan in anyway, but I get frustrated at how much we look like everyone else in style and in language, and we seem to be okay with that.

In time if we don't curve our lifestyle choices, there will be no difference between the godly and the ungodly, we will be guilty of Isaiah 5:20. The Apostle Paul told us that we are to separate from that which would be harmful.

2 Corinthians 6:17

 17Therefore go out from their midst,
and be separate from them, says the Lord,
and touch no unclean thing;
then I will welcome you,

Now, it's easy to get legalistic about lifestyle issues, but to have no standards on what we watch, or participate in, it will only be a matter of time before we start saying evil is good.  A pastor friend told me that he thought that society is beyond repair, and our only course of action is to snatch those who can be out of the fire of hell.

Jude 23

 23save others by snatching them out of the fire; to others show mercy with fear, hating even the garment stained by the flesh.
