I Love You, But Jesus Loves You More

Last Friday afternoon, I got word my wife's mother died. She hadn't been ill and for an 82 year old woman was one of the healthiest persons I know.  She suffered a stroke and died. Death does change everything in a family and the change is one that is permanent.  From now on, all the family gatherings will be without grandma, and we will never be able to change that.  On Wednesday I am anticipating that I will share something about her at the funeral service. She was well respected in her community for her energy, her laughter, and a phrase she often told people.  She would say, "I love you...........but, Jesus loves you more."  She said it so often to her family, and wrote it in every card and letter she ever sent.  What a blessing to have a family member reminding you of this simple message, God loves you more than any other person on the face of the earth. I think my mother in law based this phrase on Romans 8:32:

If God is for us, who can be against us?  32He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things?

God does love for us exceeds anything we can experience here on earth. As I prepare some thoughts for that funeral service on Wednesday, I can't help but think what the wise king Solomon said:

Ecclesiastes 7:1

1A good name is better than precious ointment,
and
the day of death than the day of birth.

The day of dying for the believer is a day of great joy. We have finally crossed over into the permanent presence of God.  In that presence there is no more pain, sorrow, sadness, disease, or worry.  All accounts are settled, and eternity can be seen in the twinkling of an eye. Death is the crowning moment, the reward of faith lived out in Jesus Christ.  It also reminds me that this day can only be triumphant for those who have faith in Jesus, who said, "I am the resurrection and the life," and "no man comes to the Father, except through Me." These words were spoken to give us the absolute certainty that Jesus Christ is our ticket into eternal life with God.

Funerals become the great reminder, life here is not permanent, but only a transition into what is. Please consider the greatest news ever presented to human kind, and accept it's promise by believing in Jesus as your Savior and Lord.

John 3:16

16“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.

Remember, I love you........but Jesus loves you more!

Keeping it honest and truthful....K
