They Got Him!!!!!
I awoke to the news, "they got him." Finally, they found the man they had been searching for, killed him, and buried him at sea, all within the last 24 hours. Do I think justice was served? Yes, I do, justice was served for the 3000 innocent people who died on September 11, 2001. One New York newspapers headline read, "Rot in Hell" and the crowds in Times square chanted USA, USA, USA. I was happy that Bin Ladin was finally found and killed for his terrorist lifestyle, but I am not sure celebrating his death in such a manner was the best way to present it to the world. In spite of the fact that Bin Laden deserved to die, God has another thought on the death of the wicked.

Ezekiel 33:1111Say to them, As I live, declares the Lord GOD, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but that the wicked turn from his way and live; turn back, turn back from your evil ways, for why will you die, O house of Israel? Perhaps terrorists will never know the love of God and turn from their evil ways, but God still grieves over the death of the wicked. I can't see Jesus jumping up and down over the death of anyone, even someone as evil as Ben Laden. So what's my point? Why do we think as Americans we are any better than Bin Laden? Are you kidding? We never killed anyone, we never planned out terrorists attacks on innocent people, yet are we any less guilty before God than the sin of Ben Laden? Today I was reminded of the woman caught in adultery recorded in John 8, and Jesus' response to her accusers.
I saw Americans throwing stones last night, and it saddened me to think our country could be so self righteous about Bin Laden's death. All of us standing before God deserve death due to our own sinfulness. Without Christ, and without our names written in the Lamb's book of life, we will receive the same death sentence, no matter if we are the evil terrorist, or the naive church going person who does not know Jesus as Savior. Guilty is guilty, and there is no degree of guilty....without Christ, you are simply guilty. America is guilty without Christ and His forgiveness. Our sin as a nation by killing millions of babies through abortion isn't any different than flying planes into the Twin Towers and killing 3000. Is it any different before God? Killing is killing isn't it? Go ahead throw some more stones.....if you can. Remember, "all have sinned, and have fallen short of the glory of God." and that goes for all sinners, both evil terrorists and hypocritical church going people who don't live what they preach. What is the difference before God? The only hope our world has is found in our Savior Jesus Christ who died for our sins, and it doesn't matter if our sins are big or small, or many or few, He died for all of them.
Let's be people who rejoice over the kinds of things that heaven rejoices over, and not be people who rejoice over the death of anyone. Just keeping it honest and truthful, even when it may not be popular. K |
