ISRAEL PREPARES TROOPS FOR BATTLE WITH BIBLES: There is mounting concern that the Palestinian statehood bid at the UN on September 20 could spark a massive Palestinian assault on Israel's borders. Depending on how far Israeli soldiers are forced to go in defending themselves and the borders, the situation could quickly deteriorate into open warfare. To prepare young Israeli soldiers for what could be the most intense fighting most of them have ever experienced, some army officials are turning to the Bible. Religious commanders in the Israeli army insist that the biblical history of their nation provides the most powerful motivation for young Israeli soldiers to fight bravely. While secular voices often protest, the fact remains that the most courageous heroics are typically carried out by Bible-believing Israeli soldiers. In the book of Zechariah we read how God will be bringing the nations of the world against Israel to stand judgment for how they have treated God's people. The ancient names of Psalm 83 are modern Syria, Egypt, Jordan, and Lebanon. These nations that are now in the middle of their own political turmoil but will one day turn their attention away from their internal struggles to unite against the desturction of Israel. Listen to the heart beat of this Psalm as it describes their attitudes against Israel.

2For behold, your enemies make an uproar; those who hate you have raised their heads.  3They lay crafty plans against your people; they consult together against your treasured ones.  4They say, “Come, let us wipe them out as a nation; let the name of Israel be remembered no more!”

This attitude has rekindled itself over the years since Israel became a nation in 1948. The Muslim Brotherhood, a radical muslim political movement in the Middle East is sweeping in to take control of the countries who are now overthrowing the dictators in the land.  On the surface it looks good that democracy will come to some of these lands, but this is a pipe dream. There will be no democracy for that region, only radical Islam and according to Zechariah 14, it is all by God's design.

12And this shall be the plague with which the LORD will strike all the peoples that wage war against Jerusalem: their flesh will rot while they are still standing on their feet, their eyes will rot in their sockets, and their tongues will rot in their mouths.

Sounds like a Hollywood movie with great special effects doesn't it?  The point is quite simple, Israel is God's first born child with all the rights of inheriting all the promises God made to them, and no nation or nations will will succeed in trying to eliminate her from the earth. The Devil knows, if you destroy Israel you destroy the influence of the Judiac-Chrisitan God in the world. However, these two verses from Amos 9  tell us once God restores Israel to the land, she will never again be uprooted. If you ever visit modern Israel today, you will witness the reality of these verses.

Amos 9:14-15 14I will restore the fortunes of my people Israel, and they shall rebuild the ruined cities and inhabit them; they shall plant vineyards and drink their wine, and they shall make gardens and eat their fruit.  15I will plant them on their land, and they shall never again be uprooted out of the land that I have given them,” says the LORD your God.
