When Your Youth Rule Over You

"The Left thinks people who believe in God, believe in the Constitution, believe in the Second Amendment have fundamental moral problems. That's what we're up against."

                                                       – Larry Elder, radio talk-show host, author

It is this attitude that Larry Elder commented on that has me concerned. I have been writing about the loss of our free speech, because everything that is written that opposes anything from the liberal left is seen as hate, racist, and homophobic. The target for all of this is our youth, and they are being indoctrinated right under our noses in our schools.

In an article published by Hillsdale College, Amy L. Wax, a law professor at the University of Pennsylvania Law School said: “Academic institutions should be places where people are free to think and reason about important questions and issues that affect our society and our way of life, something not possible in today’s atmosphere of enforced orthodoxy.“

The orthodoxy is the left’s agenda and way of thinking.

She goes on to describe what America used to look like years ago:

“Getting married before you have children and strive to stay married for their sake. Get the education you need for gainful employment, work hard, and avoid idleness. Go the extra mile for your employer or client. Be a patriot, ready to serve the country. Be neighborly, civic-minded, and charitable. Avoid coarse language in public. Be respectful of authority. Eschew substance abuse and crime.”

The criticism of this kind of description was published in a local newspaper and signed by five of her Penn Law School colleagues. They charged her with praising the 1950’s, a decade of racial discrimination where opportunities for women were limited. Our politically correct crowd is so busy picking apart our history and trying to limit any kind of praise to previous generations who do not measure up to their 2018 correctness standard of life. In our city we have renamed a lake and will possibly rename a school because the previous names of John Calhoun and Patrick Henry were men who held slaves. This is the insanity of the left. They might as well rename Washington D.C. and any other city names of the Revolutionary era. How many people were slaveholders prior to the 1860’s? It was a part of our culture, as wrong as it may have been, it doesn’t change the fact that the United States of America was a slave holding nation.

Our history shows that Americans can change the course of our direction and make life free for everyone. However, the course of change now is to have no tolerance for ideas that oppose the orthodoxy of the left. This is the attitude of Communism during the days of my youth. I remember reading about the horrendous treatment of dissenters in the Soviet Union and many of them were Christians who only wanted to worship freely. This intolerance of ideas in a free society should be condemned, but it is not.

The left is using teenagers now to prop up their agenda against guns. I watched Emma Gonzales and David Hogg (survivors of the 17 killed in Parkland, Florida) on 60 Minutes and the CBS Morning Show, as they talked about their cause of creating a movement of walk out’s in the nations schools. They are now the icon of protecting children in schools and if you oppose their agenda you are a monster.

I wonder why the “walk up movement” doesn’t get the kind of coverage that the “walk out movement” is getting?  The walk up movement has to do with countering the alienation felt by students who are bullied or ignored in our schools. In an article by Lauren Meink she writes:

“The walk up movement asks students to reach out with friendliness and compassion to their more solitary peers,” writes Dwight Adams in his IndyStar article.  By moving out of their comfort zones and helping their peers feel more welcome at school, we curb angry outbreaks by disconnected students.”

Now there’s a novel idea that gets to the root problem that could potentially de-escalate the anger and frustration in our potentially violent students.

These kids who are now doing the media circuit are simply being used and propped up by the contributions of billionaires and the media to support their cause against gun violence in our schools. Politicians are shamelessly using these youth to get their legislation against guns passed. The emotion of inexperienced youth being the voice of an agenda and being held in high esteem for their wisdom of protest is a huge mistake.

In the scriptures when youth are being used in this manner, it was a sign of judgment. It is a sign that the leaders have abandoned God, and His judgment is to place inexperience over their rebellion to God.

Isaiah 3:4-5 “I will make mere youths their officials; children will rule over them. People will oppress each other—man against man, neighbor against neighbor. The young will rise up against the old, the nobody against the honored.”

People need to be more realistic about youth. Unproven ideology is not good policy, and if ideas haven’t been tested by history and only heralded simply by emotions, we will be a nation that chases its tail.

We chase our tails a lot in this country, and it’s because we ignore God, and address our problems without His eternal input. I guess all I can say then, is, chase away.

Keeping it honest and truthful….K
