The Tenacity of God

I need to say something about God that often isn’t in my writing, and it should be every time. Here it is: God Never Gives Up!

God repeatedly told His Covenant People, Israel, that He was not happy about their Relationship, yet He was committed to fulfilling His Promises to them. Even in the Prophet Hosea’s writings, God decided because of their unfaithfulness to Him, he would divorce them, only to come back and renew them unto Himself.

God used a variety of methods to get their attention: wars, famines, droughts, captivity, divorce, and the Prophets’ Warnings … all to no avail. Israel was destined to sin, replace the God of their Covenant with foreign gods, and even live in ignorance of God’s Words to them in the Torah and other writings. They stoned the Prophets and ignored their Warnings, yet, through it all God remained Faithful.

He chose not to destroy them like He did in Noah’s Day. His People became like the godless world around them, but He chose not to destroy them, but instead to Preserve them. Why? Simple. He had a Better Plan. God always has a Plan. He is not surprised by anything, because His Plan cannot be changed. God does not Change, He is the same yesterday, today, and forever, and that Consistency is true for His Will. He set His Will in place long before the Creation of this world, and that Plan is what we see every day when we awake. This is another reason we know He never gives up on us, because He sees the beginning from the end, and nothing surprises Him.

So, when we read in the Prophetic Scriptures that God was displeased with His People, we are not saying God will angrily punish them without a Merciful course of action. When He sent the Prophets to His People to Warn them, He was instructing them like a parent instructs a child about what is good and what is bad. God does nothing without first speaking to us.

Amos 3:7 Surely the Lord GOD does nothing unless He reveals His secret counsel to His servants the prophets.

In speaking to us, He allows us to make decisions. We have the right to choose Him and His Word, or we choose our own ways. This is the Great Battle that has been underway since the Creation of Adam and Eve. It has not changed through the ages and has remained a constant behavior. Even in the today’s age of Grace, our choice is between Following Him or following ourselves. That was the Creator’s dilemma back in the drawing room of Heaven. Free Will or forced compliance? In order for God to be a fair and just Creator, He chose to give us our total freedom of choice. He knew how choice could be used for good or for Evil, and once Free Will was given, it could not be taken away.

Jesus came to give us God’s ultimate choice of Freedom. He condemned sin and gave us Freedom from it. Only God could do this, and it was His Way of ‘not giving up on us.’ My writings have this as the basis of theology … period. My challenges are not to intimidate you, judge you, or criticize you; they are meant to remind you of God’s nature of choice. You have a right to reject or embrace Him, but He will never compromise on Truth in order to get you to Follow Him.

God will never do two things as it concerns you:

1. He will never Compromise the Truth

2. He will never Give Up On You

Remember, God never Changes, and this is our Constant Foundation upon which our Relationship with Him is based.

I Believe as we live in these Last Days, they will be like the Days of Noah as Jesus predicted. Those Days were filled with indulgence, godlessness, and ignorance about God. Our Day has those same characteristics, yet it is God’s intent that none should perish, but all come to the Saving Knowledge of Jesus Christ.

2 Peter 3:9 The Lord isn’t really being slow about his promise, as some people think. No, he is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed but wants everyone to repent.

This is the Heart of God: He wants none to perish, so He sends the Watchman to speak on His Behalf. That Watchman today is His Church, and if you read the following Verses and use the Church in place of the Watchman, you will understand this blog.

Ezekiel 33 1The word of the Lord came to me: 2“Son of man, speak to your people and say to them: ‘When I bring the sword against a land, and the people of the land choose one of their men and make him their watchman, 3and he sees the sword coming against the land and blows the trumpet to warn the people, 4then if anyone hears the trumpet but does not heed the warning and the sword comes and takes their life, their blood will be on their own head. 5Since they heard the sound of the trumpet but did not heed the warning, their blood will be on their own head. If they had heeded the warning, they would have saved themselves. 6But if the watchman sees the sword coming and does not blow the trumpet to warn the people and the sword comes and takes someone’s life, that person’s life will be taken because of their sin, but I will hold the watchman accountable for their blood.”

Remember, God Never Gives Up.
