Think about this for a moment …

Isaiah 11:6-11 The wolf will live with the lamb, the leopard will lie down with the goat,

the calf and the lion and the yearling together; and a little child will lead them. The cow will feed with the bear, their young will lie down together, and the lion will eat straw like the ox. The infant will play near the cobra’s den, and the young child will put its hand into the viper’s nest. They will neither harm nor destroy on all my holy mountain, for the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the Lord as the waters cover the sea.

Only God can create an environment on earth like that.

There will be no fear, no need to defend yourself because there are no threats from animals or humans. Just think about the peace that will rule the earth when Jesus comes to reign. Some people may think that faith in a God, who not only created this world, but will provide a New Heaven and New Earth, is nonsense … but for those of us who have experienced the peace of Jesus it means everything.

Scripture tells us because of the fall of man; every part of God’s creation is subjected to a curse. That curse was done away with by Jesus on the Cross and now we are waiting for the full effects of His peace to rule the world.

The future is not bleak; it is full of God’s surprises, and His joy will be on display for everyone to enjoy and behold. It is true, we are not there yet, but it is in our future for those who believe in Jesus. Faith has strength and courage because it is rooted in a God who will see us through and prevail regardless of those things in life that may try to end its influence. Faith is not faith in faith, but it is faith in the person of Jesus Christ.

The Church can be a stumbling block for some; it was for me. I did not see Jesus, I saw regulations, rigid doctrines, and teachings that were not freeing, but were smothering. As I matured in Christ, and I became clergy, I still felt overwhelmed by all the Church-oriented thinking that we do. Jesus gets harder to see and hear when we allow the Church to take center stage in our Spiritual life. God uses the Church, don’t get me wrong, but the Church is not the end-product … Jesus is. Our product is to help people know Jesus, follow Him, and make Him Lord and Savior of their lives. Our job is not to get them cleaned up so they can look good in Church. Our job is to bring them to the Cross and allow Jesus to make them whole. Listen, only God can do a miracle of peace like the Prophet Isaiah wrote about. Only God can rescue us from sin, and give us the promise of a new start in this life.

What should you do today with this information?

Make sure you know Jesus as Savior and Lord. Don’t rely on what your confirmation classes, or your childhood baptism, or the assurance from some preacher that you are okay. Make sure you are okay with God. Know that Jesus died for your sins, and you fully accept His provision by believing He is the Son of God.

Next create your own study environment with friends to study what the Scriptures teach about how to live life, to face death, and why the resurrection of Jesus has eternal consequences. Learn about Jesus, learn His Word and you will be equipped to lead a strong Christian life.  Learn to trust God for everything. He can heal, raise the dead, and turn water into wine. He is an exciting person to follow, study, and emulate.

Lastly, pray that Jesus teaches you how to love Him. Learning that will help you love others and even yourself. Take time to pray, to seek God, and He will be found by you. God is truly amazing.
