God Does Not Change
I have always believed that God sees the end at the same time that He sees the beginning. Nothing surprises God … He created everything, He realizes what harm His creation can do to both Himself and the rest of creation. He knew people would murder, commit adultery, steal, lie, and covet other’s people’s stuff. He knew about all the wars, and rumors of war, the hatred, the bigotry, antisemitism, atheism, narcissism, homosexuality, transgenderism, and all the other nasty things people live out. He saw it all from the beginning.
You might ask, then, why in the world did He go ahead and create mankind? It’s simple. He loved His creation by stamping the image of Himself into our DNA, and because He saw His plan of Jesus Christ. That plan was to redeem God’s broken creation and make it new again by removing the one thing that separated us from God … our sin. God then chronicles the beginning to the end in the Word of God, the Bible, to help us understand His plan. He told us what happened in the beginning with Adam and Eve that threw humans into an unrepairable relationship with God. He told us about the rules in this game of life called the Law … a set of standards that govern human life here on earth. God even told us how to atone for our sins, and it was a constant offering of blood sacrifices done many times a year. He even sent messengers called Prophets to warn and correct the direction the people were going, but the Prophets were ignored. This was only the first half of what the Bible tells us about the history of God, and the poorly, ill-advised humanity that could not get it right.
And Then There Was Jesus…
Since God saw the whole spectrum of humanity with the knowledge that people would fail, He put into place a fail-safe person who would remedy our sinful natures and make peace with God. God started from the beginning, to put together a plan that would show how needy we would become without Him, and allow our wickedness to separate us from Him. Why then did God create humanity when He knew people would only fail? The answer is … He knew about Jesus, His only Son who would redeem what God created. It’s a simple story with profound results. However, anything that is this good will be corrupted by those who would benefit the most from its impact. People have spent thousands of years trying to change it or rearrange it to meet their expectations.
The Wisdom of Solomon
King Solomon said everything in life is like chasing the wind … it gets us nowhere. The only thing that matters are to fear God and obey Him. Solomon also said, “And I know whatever God does is final. Nothing can be added to it or taken away from it.” This is because God knows the story from beginning to end. He does not change, His will that is set forth is incorruptible, and it does not change.
What Does This All Mean?
When people say that God has suspended some gifts of the spirit, (cessationists) or that all Prophecy was fulfilled in 70 AD (preterism), they are misinformed. God doesn’t take away gifts when they are most needed, nor does He give us a Prophetic view of the future and then fulfill it all in one era 2000 years ago. There are many other viewpoints that make God into something that He is not. For instance, take Calvinism, it is another one of those viewpoints that makes God a liar about free will. You can’t give a person free will and then dictate who will be saved and who will not be saved. In the grand scheme of things, God keeps His promises … He doesn’t change His mind about His will, and He wants us to live by faith and not by sight. The simple truth of the matter is God is incorruptible, and His Will on earth will be done as it is in Heaven. Let the Bible inform you instead of the opinions of others.
