Tension seems to be everywhere today. Tension in families, tensions at work, it seems we live in a world of tension. There is one area of tension that I have noticed has intensified and is found in almost everyone’s life. It is the tension between good and evil. That tension has always been there since Adam and Eve fell, but we are now facing a day that evil is called good, and good is considered evil. This kind of thinking convinces people that there is no difference in people, in morals, in ideas, there is no evil or good, it all comes out the same. However, there is a difference between good and evil, with evil never ever being good. I see this tension disappearing, and that is when we should begin to worry. ~It is That Simple with Larry Kutzler
On our Podcast Series, ‘The Fallen,’ is the idea of the tension between good and evil disappearing, resulting in the moral failure of the men of God falling into moral depravity. When we lose the conviction about sin, or we become too comfortable with it, we are basically removing the tension that is healthy between good and evil. I believe if that tension is removed, then the two will easily become one. The late David Wilkerson said that in the Last Days there will be no distinction between good and evil.
I remember as a young Believer, Pastor Wilkerson talking about the False Church that will arise as we close out human history. He said it will be a Church that will be inspirational, and they will support people with good deeds. However, they will not preach against sin, in fact, sin will no longer be addressed in this False Church. This is how the False Church comes into existence … you remove the tension between good and evil, and without any distinction, there is no need for sin.
It seems to me that we have entered a Day when we are aware of the danger in our world, but we do little to address it. Most Sermons are kept positive for the sake of not losing congregants, who themselves do not want to hear dooms-day messages. Leaders morally fail because they lose the discipline and discernment of a Godly life. There is an appearance of Godliness, but the power to be Godly is not present. I think of the late Ravi Zacharias who was brilliant in defending the Faith (Apologetics) but had a very dark immoral side to his life which was only uncovered following his death. My point is that people can appear to be right with God, say all the right things, but as Jesus pointed out:
Matthew 7:21-23 “Not everyone who calls out to Me, ‘Lord! Lord!’ will enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Only those who actually do the will of My Father in heaven will enter. On judgment day many will say to Me, ‘Lord! Lord! We prophesied in Your Name and cast out demons in Your Name and performed many miracles in Your Name.’ But I will reply, ‘I never knew you. Get away from Me, you who break God’s laws.’
My point here is simple. There are many who are False Prophets in the Church, even though they may not teach false doctrine, nor be immoral in their behavior, but their hearts do not belong to God. That is why temptation is harder to push away … the fear of a Holy God is gone. Jesus saw the great deeds done in His Name, yet He responded, “I never knew you.” It’s the ministry deeds, or results of ministry that God wants, He wants our hearts to know and obey Him. Without a surrender of the heart to God, not much really changes. The Fallen Series is a warning for all of us … God will not be mocked, if we say we love Him, then let’s serve Him in a manner that brings Him honor.
