Too Much About Us

The simple definition of who we are is related to change because change is needed to become like Christ. The greatest change that anyone can make is a change that brings faith into focus, and the faith I speak about is in the specific person of Jesus Christ. Faith is a funny thing in our world … it does not have real facts to prove how it works, but it does have results. The world we live in is full of risks, we never know when disease will bring us to our final hours, or when an accident will take us in a moment’s notice. Furthermore, we make all kinds of risky decisions, hoping it will all end up well. Yet, faith is discarded as a risk since faith has a God component to it. Faith is still is a risk … like all risks in life.
We believe by faith that God sent a solution to our world to give us hope and promise for a better life … both now and for eternity. That is the risk many reject. However, when we seriously investigate the claims of Jesus Christ, the risk goes away and a faith of assurance comes. Faith will change us, but faith must grow or it will become stagnant. Jesus illustrated that when He spoke to the Seven Churches in the Book of Revelation.
Luke 18:8 However, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?
Sadly, some Churches today have a message that is dead because they lost their faith somewhere along the way. Recently I captured this thought in a Facebook post that asks a hard question about what we hear in Church.
Some ideas preached in the Church today are not God’s truth … these ideas are speculation. God never changes, but we like to assist Him by adding to His Words. God is always at work drawing people to Himself. He draws us, but He does not choose for us. Our choice to be a believer is dependent on His mercy. He owes us nothing but has given us everything in Christ. However, no speculation is fact … it simply takes a stab at what we think is in God’s mind, and we conclude we have it right. In other words, we fill in the spaces God left blank. Those blank spaces are not to be filled with our speculation, but filled with our faith and trust in Him. It must be clearly stated in Scripture, and if not, it isn’t supposed to be there. ~Larry Kutzler, Facebook Post
Now I could have written that piece on Facebook with a different tone, but I wanted people to hear what is being said, rather than getting defensive. Too much is done in the name of God that has nothing to do with the God of the Bible. I use that phraseology because there are a lot of ideas about God that are contrary to what is written in the Scriptures (more than anyone wants to admit). However, I am here to say that unless we conform and change to what the Bible teaches, we will be guilty of adding and subtracting to God’s Word … this is condemned by God. Our faith is not in our creeds, doctrines, denominations, ministries, nor anything else we respect and honor. The Apostle Paul defined who we are:
Ephesians 4:4-6 There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to one hope when you were called; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.
I think you are getting my drift. Those who survive what the Bible says will be our future on this planet will need to change and simplify their understanding of God, place their faith completely in Jesus Christ, and learn to depend on the Holy Spirit to lead them. All this nonsense of Biblical speculation will have no bearing on how to face a future world that Bible Prophecy describes. It is time now to change. It is about faith in Jesus, the Bible for instruction, and the Holy Spirit for sustainability. It is that simple.
